Our Alpine cuisine: The taste of the mountains!

Alpine cuisine has a few essential ingredients. Authentic Styrian food + excellent views. Because Alpine cuisine means this: We cook with the best that our local nature has to offer and serve it to you at our Brandalm hut at over 1,600 metres above sea level, where you can sense the difference in the mountain air. Pure. Fragrant. Unforgettable. Try our family recipes, such as the hearty beef stew, dumplings with real Styrian cheese, homemade strudel, or farmer’s “krapfen” doughnuts. Head up the mountain!

Local ingredients. Traditional dishes. Our own farm.

In our Alpine kitchen, we value local and regional food, traditional Styrian cuisine, and responsible operation of our farm, pasture, and mountain hut. Many of the ingredients used for our cuisine are sourced from our own organic farm at Brandhof. We also use high-quality products from our regional growers and suppliers, with whom we’ve enjoyed a valued partnership for many years. And that’s all reflected in the taste. Authentic. Natural. Like home.

The best organic meats

In our Alpine kitchen, we prepare and serve meat from our own organic and pure-bred cattle. We keep our Pustertaler Sprinzen herd close to nature: At Brandhof organic farm, they’re reared in a responsible manner, using suckler cow husbandry. Our cattle spend the summer on the high pastures surrounding Brandalm. Lush meadow grasses, flowering Alpine herbs, and the fresh mountain air guarantee the best meat quality

Our popular “krapfen” doughnut weeks

A special highlight of Ramsau are its delicious farmer’s “krapfen”. Wheat or rye – farmers have always used the grain that grows best in their fields. Our popular “krapfen” weeks at Brandalm take place every year from 1 October to All Saints’ Day, from 9.30 a.m. to 5.30 p.m. every day. Whether they’re meat-filled “krapfen”, rye “krapfen” with Styrian cheese, or honey-filled … let yourself be enchanted by the rural Alpine delights and the blaze of autumnal colours at the foot of Mt Dachstein.
